I was watching them, too. They did a beautiful job. I think it is great that they earned the silver medal. US has not won an ice dancing medal in 30 years and it was the bronze. Post pictures in the future if you can.

oh cool! Lucky DD! I've been rooting for them all season and their win was amazing! I am so happy for them and the future of US ice dance is looking good! Do Liz Punsalan and Jerod Swallow skate there? They're mostly retired now and coaching but I liked them a lot and miss them.

How do you think the US women will do tonight in skating?

I'm so excited for tonight!! I just read this morning that Emily Hughes isn't favored to win a medal but a major upset would be terrific. As I remember, her sister won the gold and wasn't expected to win, so I guess we'll just have to see.

I think everyone is expecting Sasha Cohen to win. She and the top Russian may be going head-to-head. I would even love to see a major upset by someone from another country. I just love ice-skating drama (though I did not care at all for the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan drama).

I'm very excited about the new points system!

I hope to get tickets to an ice skating event when the Olympics come to Vancouver, B.C. in 2010, and a hockey game with Finland playing.

I would like to see Sasha Cohen win gold. I think she is a beautifully graceful skater. It should be a great competition. I haven't seen Emily Hughes skate, but I also heard she is a long shot and that the other American, Kimmie, has a better chance than Emily. Irina Slutskya, the Russian, is a fantastic athlete, however. It should be interesting. I hope they don't draw it out endlessly on TV, but I am sure they will. I wish the exact times of the skating would be put on the TV guide so I wouldn't have to watch all the other events and all the commercials. I also want to tune in to American Idol. Judi,
I had not seen Emily Hughes skate myself until today. I'm actually watching the figure skating right now on a Canadian channel. It's so nice to have it to watch during the day. I didn't watch during the daytime yesterday and my husband and I stayed up until almost midnight watching the ice dancing.

I will not spoil anything for anyone here but I will say that Sasha Cohen has not skated yet. They've been switching back and forth between other events. If anyone else has access to Canadian/early coverage, don't post any spoilers.

I must say, the Canadian/Vancouver coverage is always quite good. My husband is happy because they tend to show the Finnish hockey games whereas NBC does not unless U.S. is playing.

What did you think about the Italian dance couple's behavior toward one another after Sunday night's fall and up until the end of their program last night? Talk about icy!!

American Idol is definitely winning the prime-time slot in our house tonight. Thank you, Canada!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I thought their behavior was unbelievable! It was almost as entertaining as their ice dance, itself. Are they married? I felt really sorry for the man. He dropped her, and she was really mad. Then, at the end of the whole thing she broke down and hugged him. It was really pretty touching. That was so dramatic!

I do not think the Italian ice dancers are married to each other. I thought it was poor showmanship. How can they expect to skate a good program without connecting with each other? Accidents happen and you can't hold a grudge like that.

I am rooting for Irina Slutskaya to win gold. She deserves it and I have always liked her. I like Sasha, I think she's a graceful skater but there's something lacking, I don't know what. I can watch Kristi Yammgucci, Yuka Sato, Katia Gordeeva and Michelle day but Sasha, I don't know. I think there's a good chance Carolina Kostner of Italy will win bronze. She's the current world bronze medalist and she's skating in front of a home audience. Kimmie Meisner is a possibility but I am rooting for one of the Japanese ladies- either Shizuka Arakawa and Fumie Seguri. They've been awesome in practice so far and have worked so hard for so long. As for Emily, she does not have the experience or technical difficulty of her sister's program in Salt Lake. This is only her second year in seniors and she has not ever competed on the international scene at seniors but with this new scoring system, you never know.

Over here, Isabel and Inky, both from the former Soviet Union, are cheering on the Russians and the Ukrainians in all sports! Inky, which is short for Marina, is particulary rooting for the three Marinas- one from Russia, one from Ukraine, and one from Uzbekistan- all former Soviet nations.

Mieke's not even watching because there's no one from the Netherlands! She prefers the bobsleigh.

They, along with fellow Olympians, Silverstein & O'Meara and Wing & Lowe, skate at the same rink with DD so I can't wait to see and maybe hold a real Olympic Medal. If we get good pics I will post them. Yaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! DD was so excited last night she could hardly watch the Ice Dancing free dance.
